Practical guide / Opening & pouring

Why is my powder sachet hard to open or pour?

Getting a sachet open and getting the product out are two different jobs. Describe each separately to give your pack review a useful starting point.

10 October 2026 · General project preparation, not a diagnosis

Start with what happens.

Is the opening hard to start? Does the tear take an unexpected path? Does opening the pack spill product? For pouring, describe what happens after opening: an awkward direction, powder left inside, or difficulty dispensing into the intended container.

These observations identify questions to investigate. They do not establish the cause or prove that a material change will solve it.

Record the current reference point.

Useful starting details include the product category, sachet format, material if known, typical quantity and how the pack is used. “I’m not sure” is a useful answer when it makes an unknown clear.

You do not need to provide a confidential formula in an initial enquiry. If specifications or samples are needed, an appropriate method for sharing them can be agreed later.

Agree what would make a useful comparison.

A focused pilot compares the current pack with an agreed candidate against one question. For example: does a proposed opening change make practical dispensing easier under the agreed conditions?

A promising demonstration is a reason to investigate further. It is not a guarantee of full-scale production performance, product safety or shelf life.
